A new neighborhood shelter for a booming suburb

Connolly provided full architectural services for a bright and welcoming new shelter for this rapidly expanding suburb of Dallas. Contrasting brick and concrete exterior creates an elegant look that also complies with the town's preference for masonry-clad buildings.

The shelter boasts a state of the art kennel facility with individual plumbing stations to reduce the spread of disease and aid in maintaining hygienic conditions. The medical room has the flexibility of converting into a fully functional operation suite, should it be required in the future. The cat kennel area can be closed off from the public to allow cats to roam freely during the day and return to their enclosures overnight.

From the lobby, large windows offer views into two cat play areas and natural light floods hallways and staff work areas through light monitors in the roof. Interior windows also transfer natural light from room to room.
