Denton Animal Services Master Plan, Denton, Texas

In a unique partnership with a private foundation, the City of Denton is building a new shelter facility on land contiguous with public soccer playing fields. The two venues will share a parking lot, providing beneficial synergy to the animal shelter. The new facility will double canine holding and will be designed to allow dogs daily opportunities to go outside. Synthetic turf, rather than concrete, surfacing for outdoor exercise areas will benefit the dogs while being easily cleaned and sanitized.

Cats will enjoy a screened porch habitat during business hours, allowing for access to fresh air in a protected environment. The facility will aim to achieve LEED Silver certification.
