Larry Connolly has more than 13 years of experience designing animal shelters and habitats. Through working with more than 70 shelter clients in 19 states representing more than $200 million in construction, he has developed an understanding in the special needs of shelter facilities, their staffs, and their animals. He works closely with shelter staff and management; listening carefully to their needs and goals, and transforming this information to a shelter facility that exceeds their expectations.

He served as the architect member of the Humane Society of the United States (HSUS) Evaluation Team on two shelters and completed one shelter design consultation for the American Association for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA). Larry Connolly is a nationally recognized authority on shelter design and is a frequent presenter at annual conferences and workshops for the American Humane Association (AHA), HSUS, and the National Animal Control Association (NACA). He also often contributes articles to Animal Watch and NACA News magazines.

Larry Connolly has been in private practice in Texas since 1979. He received his architecture degree from the University of Texas at Austin in 1976 and completed his internship with Wilson Crain Anderson Reynolds in Houston and Frank Welch Associates in Midland. He is active in local state and national AIA activities, as well a variety of community organizations. He is a contributing editor to Texas Architect magazine and his residential work has appeared in Architecture, Redwood News, and Southern Living.
